Solidarity not Xenophobia

The Coronavirus is calling the world to solidarity. We must be vigilant in fighting xenophobia which can easily seep the culture. Referring to the coronavirus as the “Chinese Virus” maligns, scapegoats, stereotypes, and ostracizes our Asian brothers and sisters. Here is an article posted just today on the Covenant Newswire that shares many Asian American Covenanters encounters with hatred and blame https://covenantcompanion.com/2020/03/23/asian-covenanters-subjected-to-xenophobia/

The article is followed by some thoughts on how all of us can be in solidarity with our Asian brothers and sisters around the world. https://covenantcompanion.com/2020/03/23/a-call-to-practice-solidarity/

Richard Rohr in his devotional for today ends this way:
“We cannot face large-scale crises as individuals; we cannot carry the pain of this reality on our own, nor can we only look out for ourselves. The pain is communal and so too must be the response.”
