AN AFTERNOON AT CAMP CHARLTON

with No Comments

It was a gorgeous day, one that you didn’t have to hide from the sun, a bounteous representation of the community, good food, great games with spectacular prizes, pontoon boat rides on the lake, and even a number of swimmers (although most of their ages were 20 and younger). All together, this was a wonderful day to re-embrace our property we affectionately call, Camp Charlton. I heard more, “Boy this brings back memories!” from people from many different age ranges than I have ever heard. Originally a gift from Harold and Elizabeth Berg, Camp Charlton has figured largely in the life of Salem and Bethlehem. It has hosted more Sunday School picnics, more summer VBS camps, and Sunday post-worship BBQ’s then many of us could begin to count.  Not only did it bring together Salem folk but the McNerneys, Bergs, Nelsons, and other neighborhood folks. Thanks to all who helped vision and help this day become a reality!
