Loneliness and Presence: Six-Week Book Study and Sharing Group – BEGINS MARCH 6, 2019

with No Comments

One needs only to read to the 3rd chapter of Genesis to encounter the pain of human experience. God calls out to Adam and Eve, “Where are you?” Adam responds, “I hid myself because I was afraid, naked, and alone.”

Even as we are hard-wired for connection, loneliness has reached epidemic proportions in this world of seven billion humans. Shame, as defined by best-selling author Brené Brown, is the fear of disconnection, the belief that there is something about us that if other people knew – it would make us unworthy of connection. Shame is universal, no one wants to talk about it, and the less you talk about it the more you have it.

Deeply embedded in the gospel and at its very core is God’s stance that every human being is worthy and thus worthy of connection, joy, and love.

Join a group of fellow travelers as we walk together through the reality of our loneliness to the grace of God’s presence. Utilizing Brown’s powerful book, Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead, we hope to renew our lives, faith, and hope.
