LABYRINTH IS READY!

I’ve started walking the labyrinth and I invite you to experience this new spiritual direction tool.

Prayer labyrinths have served as symbols of spiritual journeys and meditation practices across various cultures for thousands of years. The concept of labyrinths dates back nearly 5,000 years, with early examples found in various cultures, including Crete, Egypt, and Rome. A defining feature of Christian labyrinths is the round, center design often following the medieval pattern that originated with the Chartres Cathedral labyrinth. This design features a single, winding path that leads to the center, symbolizing the journey of the Christian life. It became a substitute for pilgrimages to Jerusalem, allowing individuals to embark on a symbolic spiritual journey within the confines of their own community. Walking the labyrinth is seen as a form of active meditation, offering a physical representation of the spiritual journey. The twists and turns of the labyrinth mirror the challenges and obstacles one encounters in life, while the path leading to the center represents the ultimate goal of union with God.

I have found Salem’s labyrinth especially welcoming. The small crushed stone takes you on the journey, keeping you on the path while providing you space and opportunity to connect with God. There is nothing that you have to do except follow the path and allow the Holy Spirit to embrace you.

I’ve started walking the labyrinth, and I invite you to explore how its practice might enhance your walk with Jesus.
