Come and join in the celebration of Christmas Eve, the birth of the Christ child, a new start and beginning to all in need of renewal and to be made whole. The scripture text for this day is a conversation between the prophet and King David. As Walter Brueggemann observes, “We set out, like David, thinking we have to do something to prove ourselves to God, ‘build God a house, is the metaphor. And as always, God turns it around and says, ‘No David, let me build you a house!” God is the provider and the one to first initiate love toward us.
On Christmas Eve, we celebrate that God is now with us in flesh and blood letting us know that God is on our side doing everything possible to love and care for us. No matter who we are or where we are from, let’s come together and celebrate all the good news of the day!
