THE VOTE WAS UNANIMOUS! On Sunday, December 10, 2017, at the Annual Meetings of both Bethlehem Covenant and Salem Covenant, each congregation voted for a merger between the sister congregations in Worcester. The planning of this merger has been in discussion for over a year with a Merger Team composed of each church. Since August, the Merger Team has been meeting every other week ironing out the legal, financial, and spiritual joining of these two bodies. The new entity will be called “Salem Covenant Church” and meet at the 215 E. Mountain Street location. The first joint service between the two congregations will be Sunday, January 7, 2018, at 10:00 am when a celebrative service is being planned. Bethlehem Covenant will conclude services at their 46 Greenwood location at the end of the year. The initial plan is to maintain the Greenwood Street property and look for sale opportunities in the new year. The Greenwood Street Medical Clinic will remain at the Greenwood location until early summer at which time a move to Salem will be planned. The Spirit has been rich and directive in this exciting new initiative. If there are any questions concerning the merger please direct them to each of the church offices and we will do our best to provide as much information as possible.
