This is the first summer that Salem is hosting the Greater Worcester Farmer’s Market on Thursdays from 12:30-5:00 p.m. It has been an opportunity for Salem to support some local farmers with a new venue for selling their produce. Including the expected vegetable and fruits, there is a wide variety of homemade breads, sandwiches, brownies, cheesecakes (that are quickly becoming infamous) and a pet boutique. Come weekly and see what’s available!

confirmation-journey

This month, we’re starting a new confirmation class for 6th-9th graders. Older students who would still like to go through confirmation are also welcome, but they will be expected to help plan some of the lessons throughout the year. Classes will be held on Sunday mornings during the Sunday School hour and will begin on September 13.

Please email Mike Nyman to register for the class.

To learn more about the class, visit the Evangelical Covenant Church’s discipleship/confirmation page.

Our members contribute both financial support and hands-on service in our work with many community organizations in Worcester. Included among these are Abby’s House, Pernet, Mustard Seed, PIP shelter, Genesis Club, Rachel’s Table, Great Brook Valley Head Start, Willis Center, Burncoat Plains, Visiting Nurses Association, Salvation Army, Prison Fellowship (Angel Tree Ministry), Whosoever Gospel Mission, American Red Cross, and the Worcester County Food Bank. Additionally we support our own conference outreach through Pilgrim Pines Conference Center, Seafarers’ Mission, our missionaries and others as needs arise.
